About this 2-day Workshop
Eating disorders and body image disturbances have increased substantially over the past two decades and are associated with significant psychological, physical, and functional impairment. Yet these conditions are often underrecognized in clinical settings, frequently presenting alongside concerns commonly treated by biofeedback and neurofeedback practitioners, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and chronic pain.
Emerging evidence suggests that impairments in interoceptive awareness may be a shared mechanism underlying both disordered eating behaviors and broader challenges in self-regulation. This two-day immersive workshop introduces participants to Eat Breathe Thrive (EBT), an evidence-based prevention and early intervention program for eating and body image concerns that is designed to strengthen interoceptive awareness, self-regulation capacities, and embodied agency through mindful movement and experiential practice.
After reviewing theoretical and empirical foundations of the program, participants will engage directly in core EBT exercises while exploring how embodied agency can support healthier relationships with food and body. We will also critically examine social, cultural, and commercial influences that shape contemporary body and wellness norms and their implications for clinical practice. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing early indicators of eating and body image disorders, understanding the role of interoception in health behavior change, and integrating EBT principles into existing biofeedback and neurofeedback practice.
Through experiential learning, discussion, and clinical application, attendees will develop practical skills for helping clients cultivate a more adaptive relationship with their bodies, internal experiences, and health behaviors. Attendees will leave with immediately applicable tools for enhancing treatment outcomes and supporting whole-person well-being across diverse clinical populations.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Identify common and often overlooked indicators of eating disorders and body image disturbances in biofeedback and neurofeedback settings.
2. Explain the role of interoceptive awareness in self-regulation, health behavior change, and eating disorder risk.
3. Demonstrate core Eat Breathe Thrive principles that strengthen interoception, embodied agency, and self-regulatory capacity.
4. Integrate EBT principles and exercises into existing biofeedback and neurofeedback interventions to improve client outcomes related to eating behavior, body image, and psychological well-being.
