Date: TBD

Workshop Title

A Universal Psychophysiological Protocol to Establish Resilience with the Concept of “Experience of Control”

Workshop Description

In this workshop we will start from introducing the principles of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and  other 3rd wave  CBT attitudes (ACT combined with MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy), Meta-cognitive Therapy and some of Victor Frenkel’s ideas). We will describe the way to produce “an experience of control” as the main factor in building resilience. Achieving an experience of control is based on the ability to relinquish actual control without getting caught in an experience of helplessness. We will learn how experience of control  is produced by a combination of; acting  with responsible behavior, physiological regulation, looking for meaningful life and strengthening interpersonal relationships. We will learn different techniques that combine these components into a complete psychophysiological universal protocol working for any psychopathology, for the purpose of  improving well being and for prevention. Doing that we will exercise the principles  with a variety of techniques with clinical and educational examples.

Learning Objectives

  1. 1) To understand the concept of “an experience of control” as a main building stone of resilience.

2) To learn about, and practice  the factors that create an experience of control.

3) To learn how to use the content learned, in therapy and prevention (serial of case report).
